The Bahrain Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has released its first mobile quality of service report, which shows that all three Bahrain mobile phone operators are achieving good performances as compared to benchmark operators in UAE, France and Germany.

The audit, performed by independent consulting firm Directique, included the evaluation of voice, sms and mms, email and data services over both computer and smartphone.

The quality of service report was conducted following a mobile coverage audit published by the TRA last month. The coverage audit confirmed that all three mobile operators were complying with their mobile license obligation to provide mobile coverage to 95% of the population in the Kingdom. In fact, results of the audit showed that operators were exceeding their license obligations, offering nearly 100% outdoor population coverage based on 87,683 individual test calls.

"The results of the audits clearly indicate that mobile operators are putting a lot of effort, not only to comply with their license conditions, but also to provide consumers with state of the art mobile services and satisfy their needs. TRA can be satisfied that consumers are enjoying a wide range of mobile telecommunications services with good levels of coverage and quality. TRA will continue to closely monitor the evolution of the Mobile QoS," said TRA's Technical and Operations director Mohammed  Mahmood.
