Electronics and IT trade generated by companies based in the UAE's Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZ) was worth AED 51 billion ($13.9bn) in 2009, according to JAFZ authority.

The market has shown an 8.5% CAGR, growing from AED 35 billion ($9.5bn) in 2005. The UAE consumer electronics market is set to reach $4bn by 2015.

JAFZA recently held a Strategic Customer Forum on the sector with companies including Sony Gulf, Panasonic, Samsung Gulf, LG Electronics and Nikai Gulf and representatives of Dubai Customs, DP World, Dubai Trade and Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
