When gamers get their hands on their copy of Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D for Nintendo 3DS they might care to read the game manual. One line in particular stands out, ‘Note: Saved data on this software cannot be reset.'

Thus when you play the game and your progress is saved, it can never be taken back. Since you can't erase your saved games, all the content you have unlocked, remains that way and that means you can't play the game differently. It also means that you will not be able to loan the game to a friend or even sell it.

"Second hand game sales were not a factor in this development decision, so we hope that all our consumers will be able to enjoy the entirety of the survival-action experiences that the game does offer," Capcom said in a statement given to Giant Bomb.

Capcom's statement continued, "In Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, all mission progress is saved directly to the Nintendo 3DS cartridge, where it cannot be reset. The nature of the game invites high levels of re-playability in order to improve mission scores. In addition, this feature does not remove any content available for users."
