PTL takes on regional distribution of RetailPro PTL has set up operations in the UAE to distribute RetailPro solutions to the wider Middle East, says Catania.

Malta-based Philip Toledo Ltd (PTL) has launched Middle East operations to take on distribution for retail software specialist RetailPro.

The company, which specializes in systems integration and in a number of vertical sectors, has been appointed as distributor for RetailPro for the Middle East and will also act as a reseller for the solution in the UAE.

PTL has established offices in Dubai Internet City, and is in the process of appointing resellers for the region.

David Catania, CEO of PTL said: "We will have a direct resellership in the UAE, to provide direct services to customers in the UAE, as it is the most vibrant market in the Middle East, and we will also manage a distribution channel across the Gulf."

Six existing resellers for RetailPro have been transitioned to a distribution model under PTL, and the company is look for additional resellers in Bahrain, Oman and Qatar, and also for other Emirates in the UAE.

Richard Kolodynski, vice president for EMEA/Asia for RetailPro said that PTL has been a partner of the company for ten years, and was asked to take on a distribution role because of their ability to add services around the software and other value-adds.

"They have been our partner for about ten years for [Malta] and distinguished themselves, not just from a point of view of sales but also in offering a total retail solution. Because retail is a relatively specialist market, there is huge scope for a true value add distributor," Kolodynski said.

RetailPro has around 400 customers in Gulf, and its solutions are in use with a number of famous brands worldwide including Ferrari, Givenchy, Fendi, Gucci, Swarvoski and Estee Lauder.

In the Middle East, the company will be targeting retailers from the SME up to large corporations and trading groups. With the saturation of the retail segment in Dubai, many companies are looking to regional expansion, both throughout the Middle East and other emerging markets.

Catania said that PTL will initially just focus on RetailPro, to deliver the ecosystem around the solution, but that it will offer a range of value added services such as consultation to customers and partners.

"We believe that the success of the implementation is mostly measured in terms of the effectiveness with which the solution fits within the processes of the organization. You need people who not only understand the technical side of hardware and software solution, but also understand the impact on the customer's business, and focus on where that solution would add value best. It is something we focus on very strongly, and it delivers a lot of value to our customers," Catania said.
