Exact Software Middle East, (ESME) the regional operations of ERP vendor Exact, is to launch operations as an independent distributor following a management buy out.

ESME has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Exact for the region, and will now look to develop a reseller channel, to enable further expansion.

The company was formed as a joint venture between Dutch ERP company Exact and staff of the former Great Plains Middle East. Employees and management of Dubai-based ESME have now bought out Exact's share of the JV, and Exact will no longer go direct to market in the region. ESME will operate under the abbreviated name, ahead of a rebranding sometime in the next 12 months.

Nizar Badwan, general manager of ESME told ITP.net: "The Middle East, each country on its own is really a small market, you really have to be active in all of the markets to have a viable customer base and to be strong financially in the region. The best way to do it is to develop a strong reseller channel that is focused on selling your solutions.

"We have been trying to do that, as a subsidiary of Exact, and we have reached an agreement with them, that if Exact is going to sell directly, then we should have the opportunity to develop a channel in the region, if we are independent of Exact," he said.

Exact customers in the region will continue to be supported by ESME and Exact, and there should not be any disruption to their service, Badwan added. "It gives us the opportunity to go out, use our experience in developing resellers and our strong understanding of the solutions, to really develop a strong reseller channel for Exact Software."

ESME is now looking to build a regional channel, and is already in discussion with potential partners in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

As a distributor, the company will also look to extend its portfolio.

"We are looking to add solutions that will complement Exact, and that will help us get into industries and markets that haven't been in so far. We will definitely add other products and services as we go forward," Badwan said.
