Oracle has entered into an agreement to purchase web experience management solutions provider, FatWire Software.

According to Oracle, web experience management solutions allow enterprises to create a targeted and interactive online presence which enhances the interactions the company has with its customers.

"Together, Oracle and FatWire plan to deliver the most complete web experience management solution that will enable companies to fully optimise the customer experience with innovative social tools that enable user generated content in a managed environment," said Hasan Rizvi, senior vice president at Oracle. "The addition of FatWire products will give Oracle the ability to provide a complete suite of software that empowers web marketers to engage visitors, converting more prospects to customers, and enhancing customer loyalty."

As the social aspect of the internet grows, companies have come to rely more and more on using the web to communicate with customers and market products and services.

"FatWire solutions help organisations drive customer engagement and loyalty by offering a targeted and interactive online experience across web and mobile channels," said Yogesh Gupta, president and CEO, FatWire Software. "This acquisition is expected to provide FatWire customers with dramatically expanded products and services to help them achieve their online customer experience goals."

FatWire's solutions are designed to provide businesses with the ability to deliver relevant customer content and drive customer engagement and loyalty. The company’s software is in use on many company websites, including customer facing sites for Barclays, Best Buy, Cisco Linksys, Ford and The Hartford.

FatWire will expand Oracle's technology and applications product offerings for businesses seeking to extend their unified customer experience across web, mobile and social channels.

The products will also complement Oracle's existing technology and applications products including, Oracle Fusion Middleware, Business Intelligence, Enterprise Content Management, and Portal technology, Oracle Customer Relationship Management and ATG Web Commerce.

The acquisition is expected to be finalised in mid-year 2011. Financial details of the deal were not revealed.
