Two million Samsung Smart TV’s sold Samsung has sold over two million Smart TVs since they were launched three months ago.

Samsung Electronics has sold two million of its Smart TVs in the three months since it was launched. The company reported sales of 500,000 units in 25 days in April.

Samsung's Smart TV cumulative sales surpassed one million units within 45 days in late April and since then, an average of 150,000 units have been sold weekly.

The company said that these figures show global sales of an average of 22,000 units daily and 15.4 units sold every minute.

It took eight months for its LED TV to pass the same milestone in the past, according to Samsung.

The Smart TV proved to be most popular in North America, with 730,000 units sold followed by markets in Europe such as UK, Germany, France, and Italy with 710,000 units sold.

In the Middle East, Africa and South East Asia region, where the Smart TVs were launched later, about 170,000 units were sold, and in Korea alone, the number of Samsung's Smart TVs sold was over 120,000 units.

Samsung said the popularity of its Smart TV is in part due to its launch of the 32-inch D6000 series of Smart TVs and the large 75-inch D9500 premium series.

Samsung Smart TVs allow users to do smart search, exchange tips, access social networking, web browsing and Samsung TV Apps via the Smart Hub - a customised user interface.

Samsung said that one of its Smart TVs key differentiation factors is the QWERTY remote control, which is designed to allow users to access all Smart TV functions from the device.

The company said that the built-in wireless dongle, designed to ensure an optimized internet environment without additional costs is another key feature of its Smart TVs.

The Samsung Apps TV store is the world's first HDTV-based application store, offering over 600 different Smart TV apps across games, education, movies, and lifestyle.

"Samsung Smart TV delivers the most optimised smart experience, while being faithful to TV's original features such as picture quality and design. Offering both product convenience and enriched content is the secret behind the success of our Smart TV," said Sang-Chul Lee, senior vice president of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. "We expect that along with D7000 and D8000, our further expanded models will drive up our Smart TV sales in the second half of this year."
