IDC's IT Security Roadshow will roll into the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa (MEA) from March 3rd and will open at the Sheraton Hotel and Convention Center in Ankara.

The Roadshow is themed ‘Proactive Approach to Information Risk Management', and will visit 14 of the MEA's foremost business hubs over the next seven months, including Dubai, Riyadh, Doha, Istanbul, Johannesburg, Cairo, and Lagos.

According to the IDC, companies and organisations are recovering from the financial crisis and are able to begin spending again. Many companies are reassessing their IT security needs and requirements.

"As organisations regain their balance following the intense turbulence of the economic downturn, they are developing a much better appreciation of information risks," says Ranjit Rajan, research director for software at IDC Middle East, Africa, and Turkey. "They understand that external threat vectors such as malware and internal threats such as data loss through employees are continuously increasing, both in frequency and sophistication. With this in mind, IT executives must relentlessly develop and update their processes, technologies, and skills to stay ahead and keep these evolving threats at bay."

Issues such as business models for information security, IT security as a business enabler, optimising security architectures, security in a virtualized environment, addressing social media concerns, security as a service, security audits, data loss prevention and security in the Cloud will be discussed during the sixth annual edition of the Roadshow in the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey.

Senior IDC executives and regional thought leaders from McAfee, Trend Micro, Microsoft, CA Technologies, Kaspersky Lab, HP, IBM, and Cisco will attend the Roadshow and detail the latest security developments for businesses.

A series of high-impact presentations will address the latest IT security developments in the fields of virtualisation, cloud computing, social media, and mobile communications.

IDC's IT Security Roadshow 2011 in the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey will reach Riyadh on May 8th, followed by Doha on June 1st, Jeddah on June 6th, Kuwait on June 8th, Dubai on June 21st followed by Cairo, Lagos, Accra, Nairobi, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Casabalnca.
