Brokerage house deploys disaster recovery system

Emaar Financial Services, a subsidiary of the real estate giant Emaar Properties, has deployed a disaster recovery solution from Pro Technology after witnessing an upsurge in demand from customers.

The company, which is the first brokerage house in the UAE to allow traders to buy and sell shares online, wanted a solution that ensured its operations experienced no downtime.

It claimed the technology would enable it to cut costs and enjoy higher return on investments as its applications are available online around the clock.

Mr. Omar Al Haddad, senior manager, Projects and Business Support, Emaar FS said: “Installing a comprehensive disaster recovery solution was a strategic decision designed to further our long-term business objectives, and we are extremely pleased with the quality of the solution and the high implementation standards achieved by Pro Technology.

“The benefits of this move are already visible, especially in terms of reduced downtime, online backup and restore of database, and 24x7 availability of applications. Furthermore, it allows for significant manpower cost savings and will yield us higher return on investment.”

The Pro Technology system deployed by Emaar FS includes back-up and clustering technology. It was integrated with IBM blade technology already being used by the company.

“Pro Technology has extensive experience with IBM and Symantec solutions, which enabled us to carry out a smooth integration with IBM Blade Technology while maintaining business continuity at Emaar FS.

Besides putting in place a high availability disaster recovery solution, we will offer Emaar FS round-the-clock onsite support and pre-sales consultancy in enhancing future upgrades, as part of our commitment to deliver maximum value to our clients,” said Imran Raoof, manager of Storage and Digital Archiving Division, Pro Technology.

“This project once again illustrates Pro Technology’s unique ability to comprehend the precise nature of client requirements and perform even the most intricate system integration tasks with minimal downtime,” Raoof went on to say.

Pro Technology claims to have 18 regional customers.
