The UAE incumbent, Etisalat, has signed an agreement with Ericsson to introduce a range of mobile healthcare services in the UAE. Ericsson's mobile health solution will enable medical professionals to remotely monitor the health of adult and paediatric patients using mobile technology.

Under the terms of the agreement, Ericsson and Etisalat will jointly assist medical service providers in the country, by deploying and integrating a remote patient monitoring system that will measure patient medical parameters such as electrocardiography (ECG), spirometry, blood pressure, and pulse rate and oxygen saturation.

Abdulla Hashim, senior vice president of business solutions at Etisalat, said that the agreement is designed to provide connected healthcare services in the UAE. He also said that while the collaboration will enable the operator to deliver reliable healthcare solutions it will also provide healthcare workers with improved access to information.
