With its WR700 Wireless Headphones TDK is aiming to bring high fidelity sound to users without the hassle of cables.
The WR700 headphones employ what TDK refers to as ‘Kleer' wireless technology and the advantages became clearly evident when we began testing. Kleer technology offers low power consumption and a secured, nearly flawless wireless co-existence. TDK also claims the headset has 40db less noise in the transmitted signal which translates into crisp and clear audio.
The headset connects via a transmitter that can be plugged into any 3.5mm audio jack, be it your computer, iPhone or any other device. The 2.4GHz frequency is a common frequency that almost all wireless technology operates on but Kleer technology effectively slices through the interference. Pairing is a cinch involving a simple press of the ‘On' button on the transmitter and headset.
Sound quality is mind-blowing; this reviewer enjoyed crystal clear, serene compositions of Bach before switching to fast and intense gaming with Need for Speed Hot Pursuit and Call of Duty: Black Ops. In both cases sound quality was immaculate and we found absolutely no interference in our test area of five metres. Bass reproduction was strong but the set struggles to produce really deep notes.
