E-marine signs maintenance contract with I-ME-WE E-marine will provide maintenance for the I-ME-WE network. (Getty Images)

Undersea cable maintenance company E-marine has signed a new maintenance and storage contract to support the I-ME-WE submarine cable system.

I-ME-WE, connects the India-Middle East-Western Europe regions, and serves nine telecom providers in eight countries. The cable provides high speed internet access through a 12,000km network of three fibre paired systems.

E-marine, an Etisalat Services Holding Company, will provide maintenance, support and repair services to assure the continued operation of the cable.

The new agreement was signed by Faisal Samahi, I-ME-WE O&MSC chair and Omar Bin Kalban, managing director and CEO of E-Marine at a ceremony held in Dubai, UAE.

We believe the cooperation with E-Marine ensures the ongoing reliability of the system and alleviates against any risk of downtime," said Samahi.

"E-marine has won the maintenance contract of I-ME-WE cable system despite tough competition and a comprehensive negotiation process. E-marine is proud to have won the maintenance contract and is committed to delivering the highest levels of service for such a vital cable route on which millions of people rely on," added Bin Kalban.

E-Marine owns three Cable Ships and One Special Purpose Cable laying support vessel which are all fully equipped with state-of-the-art equipment.
