Brocade has improved added a new certification and partner specialization, and added training solutions, to help channel partners to deploy Ethernet fabric-based technology.

The additions to the Brocade Alliance Partner Network (APN) are intended to give channel partners the necessary skills and support they need to capitalize on emerging Ethernet fabric-based solutions.

The Virtualized Fabric Partner Specialisation is intended as a technology-intensive specialisation, and will require partners to meet several requirements including having Brocade Certified Ethernet Fabric Engineer (BCEFE) staff.

The specialisation is only open to Elite level partners in the APN, and will provide benefits including pre-sales support, access to proof-of-concept labs. Qualifying partners can also apply multiple specialisations to their overall rebate for greater return, and will be able to leverage specialisations for the Brocade Value Incentive Program (VIP) which offers pay-for-performance programs for partners.

The BCEFE certification is for partners and end user customers, and will deliver education around a wide range of Ethernet fabric related topics, with an open standards approach. The certification program will include training on technology theory and concepts, Brocade VDX hardware and product features, installation, configuration, management and troubleshooting.

Brocade has also restructured its Global Education offerings, with the addition of a range of coursework options and dedicated learning tracks, to help partners to skill up in the key areas of regard to convergence, virtualization and cloud technologies.

Barbara Spicek, vice president of Worldwide Channels at Brocade, commented: "As part of our Brocade One strategy, we are continually enhancing the APN program with Quality in Partnership elements that provide partners with the necessary tools to help their customers make the transition towards highly virtualized, cloud-optimized network environments without the fear of vendor lock-in. The addition of the new Virtualized Fabric Partner Specialization and BCEFE Certification provides the educational background, practical know-how and technical validation that partners need to successfully deploy and manage Ethernet fabric-based solutions."
