Fujitsu has released a world first, a biodegradable, plastic-free computer mouse. The ECO mouse is 100% recyclable and made from plastic substitutes called ARBOFORM and BIOGRADE.

The Fujitsu Mouse M440 ECO joins the already launched biodegradable keyboard, the KBPC PX ECO in Fujitsu's line-up of eco-friendly accessories.

Fujitsu says that by creating this ECO range, they are helping to eliminate the use of oil-based resources, such as plastic and PVC from the manufacturing process.

"It's the little things that add up: we're continuing to prove that it's possible to eliminate the use of non-renewable sources from the IT lifecycle. Fujitsu underlines its commitment to innovative green products for the desktop, starting with the new ECO mouse, through to the proGREEN selection. By choosing this mouse, environmentally-conscious businesses can feel good that they are helping reduce CO2 emissions without sacrificing durability or comfort - and without having to pay any extra," said Chandan Mehta, product manager at Fujitsu Technology Solutions.

Fujitsu is promoting sustainability in technology by using biodegradable materials made with renewable resources. Using these materials means less CO2 released during the manufacturing process and less plastic waste destined for the landfill.

IN 2010, Fujitsu announced the first keyboard made of renewable materials, replacing 45% of the plastic component parts with materials made from renewable resources. Fujitsu says the KBPC PX ECO keyboard has been extremely successful and estimates that the company has saved approximately 60,000 kilogrammes of plastic per year.

The Mouse M440 ECO is designed to look like a high-quality plastic mouse and has the same functionality, such as a scroll wheel and high accuracy with a 1000dpi optical sensor.

The ECO mouse's shell is designed to have more elasticity than other renewable materials, meaning it is more comfortable to use than even a traditional plastic mouse. The ECO mouse is ergonomically designed and can be used by both left and right-hand users.

The ECO mouse is available across the Middle East and North Africa regions in all major retailers.
