Over 120 of Canon Middle East's channel partners have attended Canon's achievement awards ceremony to recognise the company's IT partners.

"We had an exceptional year in 2010, and part of the credit goes to our channel partners who did a great job in pushing Canon products in their respective markets," said Naoshi. Yamada, deputy managing director, Canon Middle East. "We intend to sustain this momentum in 2011, and we are expecting an even more robust performance because of new products, a more focused customer approach, and enhanced incentives for our channel partners."

Earth Gate Trading emerged as the overall winner amongst Canon's channel partners in the region and was recognised as the best Channel Partner. The company also won the Best in Canon Inkjet Consumables awards.

Category award winners also included Al Raed Trading Company for Best in Canon Inkjet Printers and Multifunctional; Blue Bell Computers, Best in Canon Laser Printers and Multifunctional; Accent Supplies, Best in Canon Laser Consumables; and Al Noori Computers, which received two recognitions - Best in Fax Consumables and Best in Canon Copier and Copier Consumables.

The awards were presented by Canon Middle East marketing director Hendrik Verbrugghe, along with Yamada and other Canon top executives.

"In addition to these awards, we are happy to announce that we have developed a more rewarding incentive scheme for outstanding achievers in the first quarter and first half of 2011 as we aim for an even more exceptional results this year," said Verbrugghe.

The marketing director also revealed that the company will be focusing on a Channel Account Manager approach to the market.

"This way we can leverage on the strength and depth of the existing channel network to get better coverage of our target markets," he added.

With this new channel strategy, the company hopes to give consumers a single window for the entire range of Canon products.

"This allows for a much more significant level of interaction and more visibility through our dedicated branding stands and will hopefully complement our customer contact points in retail stores," said Verbrugghe.

The event was hosted by Canon Middle East Distributors for the UAE IT Market, Redington Gulf Fze and SIMBA Global LLC.

The event closed with a presentation of Canon's latest range of products that will be launched in the region this year, including the IR 2020L, Portable Document Scanner P 150, XMARK 1 mouse, as well a range of projector, inkjet and laser printers.
