NEC Display Solutions is launching its first Full HD LCD public display in the NEC MultiSync X-series range later this year.

With the new MultiSync X551UN the company has developed a direct LED backlight solution for video wall applications.

According to NEC, the bezel of the 55-inch will be narrower than any video wall the company has produced. The screen also has planned image transitions of just 5.7 mm. The screen has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels with direct backlight technology.

In this technology, the LEDs are situated directly behind the panel, which is designed to provide even illumination over the entire public display. The video wall has targeted outstanding brightness of up to 700 cd/m².

"We responded to the customer's needs and reduced the bezel width even further while increasing the resolution of the screens compared to the very successful X462UN. Combined with some new additional features, NEC will set the standard again in this demanding and growing market," said Thorsten Prsybyl, Product Line manager Public Displays Europe at NEC Display Solutions.

The company will also be offering a variety of mounting solutions for the unit and an Overframe Kit designed to make the public easy to install for video walls.
