Jacky's Electronics has announced the extension of its Eco-Exchange program to include notebooks, digital cameras, MP3 players and gaming consoles.

The program, which previously catered just to mobile phones, offers customers a cash voucher in return for electronics products they hand over for recycling.

The value of the voucher is based on age, condition and demand for the product as per Jacky's in-store system, or for products with no available value, Jacky's will recycle them for free.

Products given to Jacky's are recycled according to industry standard practices such as ISO 14001 and 9001, with a ‘zero landfill' policy.

"With our technology evolving so fast, we can see various products being launched every year, which also means more products are being set aside as people tend to buy new ones. Yet, when we launched the Eco-Exchange programme last year, we have received a good response from our customers, which clearly shows that more and more people are becoming responsible and conscious of our environment," said Ashish Panjabi, chief operating officer, Jacky's Electronics.

"Expanding the programme is our next step since there are also other electronic products and gadgets that need to be recycled and disposed properly. The newest Eco-exchange programme will allow our loyal customers to exchange their old products for cash vouchers and eventually upgrade to the latest tech gadgets in the market," Panjabi added.
