The IT industry association SNIA's Academy program, designed to provide IT professionals with educational content on key technologies and solutions, will be held in Abu Dhabi from 1st March at the Yas Island Rotana Hotel.

The Academy program is entering its seventh year and its second year in Abu Dhabi.

The Academy program is this year focusing on Cloud-based architectures and has unique agendas featuring vendor-neutral content. The agendas will be delivered by SNIA members and there will be presentations from leading vendors in the data centre technology market.

During the Academy in Abu Dhabi, companies and users will be able to learn about SNIA's best practises in cloud computing.

Also featured at the Abu Dhabi Academy will be sessions on server, storage and desktop virtualisation and in particular the effects on your storage infrastructure. The sessions at the Academy will also address some of the latest thinking with regard to stored data security and protection.SNIA, through its Cloud Storage Initiative (the CSI) is currently concentrating on cloud computing standards.

The Cloud Data Management Interface (CDMI) standard, which defines the functional interface that applications use to create, retrieve, update and delete data elements from the Cloud, is an example of this.

By using this interface the client will be able to look at the capabilities of the cloud storage offering and use it to manage containers and the data that is placed in them.

The CDMI is also utilised by administrative and management applications to manage containers, accounts, security access and monitoring/billing information.

The SNIA CSI is promoting the adoption of cloud storage as an IT alternative that means the user is only billed for what they use and provides elastic, on-demand storage.

Approximately 170 delegates are so far attending the program, but registration is still open. To register visit www.datacenter-academy.com

Registration is free for end-users and resellers of IT solutions, by using promotional code: A6D11
