Iolo's System Mechanic is system optimising software which includes tweaks and fixes to ensure your computer functions at its best.

The software packs an array of features that take the headache away from the user and automatically detects faults and problems that prevent your computer from giving you the best performance. In the application's ‘Overview' section its simple ‘Analyze' feature allows for a choice between performing a quick analysis that identifies common errors and faults that your machine has, or if need be, there is also a deep analysis that performs a more thorough check on all possible areas of the system.

Once analysed, System Mechanic comes up with a list of problem areas and suggests a repair service that allows it to remedy them.

The software can perform checks for system clutter, can repair registry problems, optimise your PC's start-up configuration, repair hard drive errors, repair security vulnerabilities, optimise your Internet connection, correct drive fragmentation issues, reclaim valuable memory resources, repair broken shortcuts, back-up the system registry, repair registry fragmentation problems and remove rogue programs that slow down your Internet connection and PC.

System Mechanic also downloads regular updates that ensure the tools it uses on your system are always at their best. The software also shows the status of your antivirus (if installed on your PC), by embedding the check within the ‘Anti- malware' section of the interface. This ensures that not only is your system working at its full potential but also that it is being protected from viruses, spyware, Trojans, worms and other malware that could potentially harm and slow down the system. The ‘Firewall' section also does a check to see if Windows' firewall is active and preventing unauthorised intrusions into your system.

The Toolbox section offers the user a choice to use individual tools or all-in-one tools to optimise the system. It is much more convenient and less time consuming to go with the all-in-one option because it only has five tools that take care of the whole tune-up process; PC Accelerator, PC Repair, PC Cleanup, PC Security and lastly Total Registry Revitalizer. Should you wish to not go through each of these tools individually there is a button that says ‘Start PC TotalCare'. Just press it and tick the features you'd like to use to optimise the system. It just doesn't get any easier.

On the whole Iolo System Mechanic 10 is a comprehensive system maintenance program that is easy-to-use and effectively tunes your system. On our test rig we noticed an improvement in system performance and using the app from time-to-time kept our rig purring along smoothly.
