BenQ has launched its new digital camera range in the Middle East.

The E1640 and T1460 High Dynamic Range II cameras both have a 14 megapixel resolution, 4XW optical zoom lens, 720p HD movie recording capabilities and BenQ's HDR II image enhancement technology.

"The E1460 and T1460 are the perfect gifts for first time camera owners particularly the younger generation as they have been designed to be very user-friendly in addition to being economical and stylish. Equipped with intuitive functions like quick delete, easy-search and a thumbnail touch bar the E1460 and T1460 are ideal for young users looking to enhance their photography skills," said Manish Bakshi, general manager of BenQ for the Middle East and Africa.

Both the E1460 and the T1460 have 41MB of internal memory and are 4GB SD card and 32GB SDHC compatible.

The cameras feature HDR II image enhancement technology, which is designed to ensure a well-exposed image even in poor lighting conditions, the technology also allows a greater dynamic range between the light and dark areas of the image.

The E1460 and T1460 come with a wide range of artistic functions, such as the LOMO effect, which is designed to enable users to add effects such as darkened-corners, off-kilter exposure and over-saturated colors to their images.  The T1460 is equipped with a few more functions than the E1460, such as quick delete, easy-search and a thumbnail touch bar incorporated into the touch screen LCD screen.

Also included is a Fisheye lens application which produces a wide-angle hemispherical view of the image subject. The Colour Accent effect allows users to choose a specific colour to highlight in the image and turn the rest of the picture into black and white.

The E1460 comes in a choice of green or silver, while the T1460 comes in red.

The BenQ cameras will be available in leading Middle East electronics retailers from mid-January.
