EMC distributor Computerlinks has agreed to begin carrying products from the storage vendor's Iomega subsidiary.

The deal will see Computerlinks, a specialist in security software distribution, market Iomega's professional network attached storage (NAS) products to SMB and corporate channels in the UAE.

Although Iomega has made several distribution appointments in the consumer sector during the past two years, it sees Computerlinks as a vehicle for helping it to increase penetration of its higher-end NAS product range in the UAE.

"Our decision to work with Computerlinks is based on their expertise, knowledge and reach in the storage channel in the region, with professional business development and technical consultant teams," explained Jan Jensen, VP international sales for Iomega.

"Our objective is to expand the reach of Iomega to meet all needs when it comes to storage solution hardware and software, from consumer through to small businesses. Computerlinks is ideally set up to grow our presence quickly in the rapidly-expanding UAE market."

Iomega's NAS servers are built on EMC's reputed enterprise storage functionality and promise advanced storage, security and content sharing for SMBs. Its new StorCenter ix12-300r network array is available in configurations that can be expanded up to 24TB. 

Lee Reynolds, managing director for MEA and APAC at Computerlinks, says the company's successful partnership with EMC during the past year has given it the confidence to engage with Iomega on the NAS range.

"Our vendors represent only the best of breed security products set to enable our partners to make maximum sales and profitability and Iomega is a perfect fit for us," commented Reynolds. "We are currently recruiting new Iomega partners and working on training programmes to educate our channel."
