Kuwait’s Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) has selected SunGard education software to help deliver a digital campus solution to support its development goals.

PAAET is responsible for 11 colleges and training institutions in the country which focus on providing skills and training for the Kuwaiti national labour force. Under the agreement with SunGard, the company and a local implementation partner will develop a digital campus solution that will help improve management of the training facilities, and delivery of courses.

The project, which will support 40,000 students, will use SunGard’s Banner Student, Banner Financial Aid and Luminis Platform software solutions, to streamline administrative procedures, and create a community portal and collaboration platform. The solution will allow PAAET students to communicate with faculty members and gain access to learning resources at anytime from any place. Students will be able to search and register for classes by term or date, as well as retrieve relevant data online, while faculty members can easily manage course information, rosters, grading and advise students from a remote location.

Dr Ahmad Alansari, dean of admission and registration, PAAET, said: “Vocation and technical education are critical to our mission to develop high-quality human resources for Kuwait’s public and private sectors. We have looked to SunGard Higher Education to provide the technology that will help us transform our institutions because of its global reputation and regional leadership in technology solutions for higher education.”

“PAAET has a significant role in ensuring that the next generation of Kuwaitis have the capacity in terms of technical skills to meet the increasingly diverse labour needs of the country,” said Mathew Boice, vice president, EMEA and India, SunGard Higher Education. “SunGard Higher Education is proud to support this mission and to provide a platform for long-term and sustainable change within the vocational and training sector in Kuwait.”
