Dubai Silicon Oasis is looking to its Oracle E-business suite implementation, to help it deliver a single portal for its tenant companies and to deliver cloud services in future.

The organization's E-business suite project, which includes CRM, Property Manager, Enterprise Asset Management, Oracle Projects, and components of Oracle's Fusion middleware, went live earlier this year, and is now serving 250 internal users with potential to reach a further 3,000 external users. Deployment of the Oracle solutions was carried out Mahindra Satyam.

Speaking at Gitex, Abdulsalam Bastaki, VP-IT, Dubai Silicon Oasis, said that the deployment had been a success, on which DSO now intends to build more services for tenants, including integration with other government departments, such as Dubai Nationalisation and Residency Department, Dubai Economic Department, and Tejari, to provide a single portal for all their business needs.

Bastaki said that DSO is also looking to cloud services provision, so that companies at DSO could be provided with access to Oracle applications on a software-as-a-service basis, with a provisional launch in mid-2012.

"We are trying to minimize the cost for companies coming to DSO, by minimizing their expenditure on their infrastructure, their data centres. We want to tell them ‘don't focus on IT, focus on your core business'," he said.

DSO already has a fibre network at its headquarters, and its infrastructure, based on Nortel and Avaya solutions, would be able to support services delivery, Bastaki added, and that DSO was also looking at providing access to Oracle applications via Avaya's technology.

"The innovative idea behind Oracle E-Business Suite is to provide businesses of all sizes with an unprecedented single integrated solution across all functional areas to increase visibility on operational activities, avoid data redundancy, improve overall efficiency and quality, and drive sustainable growth. Hence, businesses have found in Oracle's products a panacea for the thorny issues that they have been grappling with. We pride ourselves that DSOA has joined the long list of premium businesses in the region that rely on our IT management applications to meet their business objectives and drive profits to their investments.", said Fadi Abdulkhalek , Oracle Vice President and UAE country leader.

Bastaki, VP-IT, commented: "As a leading center of advanced innovation, design and development, DSOA is keen on optimising the quality of its operations, processes and services including e-services to create more opportunities for growth. The Oracle E-Business Suite products have matched our business requirements for an integrated IT application that provides an end to end view across diverse lines of business and facilitates driving performance with consistent information."
