Dragonwave, a Canada-based company that specialises in packet microwave data radio systems for mobile and access network backhaul, has signed a deal with The Blue Zone, a fixed wireless provider in the Middle East and North America.

DragonWave, which is exhibiting at GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK, will deploy its Horizon Compact product to enable WiMAX-based backhaul at speeds reaching 200 Mbps, for The Blue Zone’s business and residential customers across Jordan.

“The Horizon Compact is a key element in our growth strategy,” says Ahmed El-Mahdawy, Chief Executive Officer for The Blue Zone. “It offers industry-leading levels of backhaul scalability, throughput, latency and spectral efficiency that will enable us to cost-effectively provide our customers with state-of-the-art offerings.”

Greg Friesen, Vice President, Product Management, DragonWave, adds that the company has the highest capacity in the industry and is also the provider of the only all-outdoor product in the industry.

“Those are our key differences. We are also focused on packets. We have a leading edge package optimised solution whereas most of our competitors focus on a combination of packet and TDM,” he adds.

Dragonwave is located in Ottawa ON. Last I heard, Ottawa was still the capital of Canada, not the US. Editor's Reply: Our apologies, amended accordingly.
