Ever lost something important? The developers at TenBu have, but thanks to their development of the nio, losing an item of value is a thing of the past.

Running on a free app, the Nio wirelessly chains items such as a handbag, piece of luggage, set of keys or a camera to a smart phone via Bluetooth, sounding an alert on both the phone and device to warn of the loss or theft when they are exceed a set distance.

TenBu Director Ben Hounsell says the app allows users to choose the level of security for devices – the lower the security, the further the device and phone can be separated before an alarm sounds – and also set to tamper motion sensors. “If you fall asleep on the bus and someone tries to pick up your bag, the device senses the movement and sounds an alert,” Hounsell explains.

It’s one of those inventions that seems so obvious, it must have already been introduced to market, but that’s not the case – the Nio is a world-first and understandably, is causing quite a buzz in the UK, Europe, Africa and India where it has already been released. GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK is proving a successful platform for local distributor, Enncon, to secure Middle East retails deals.

“We’ve had considerable interest from some major companies so far at GITEX and retail deals are currently being finalized,” according Raheel Javed, Sales Manager at Enncon, who wouldn’t name potential retail partners but hinted at a large telco as well as a major consumer electronic group.

The device will retail at US$59.95 although bundle deals are expected to offer savings.
