FDC to service Lenovo notebooks in Iraq Pourmirza: Support is everything.

FDC HAS expanded its partnership with laptop maker Lenovo to include a service agreement for the vendor’s products in Iraq.

Dubai-based FDC, which is one of the few regional distributors to have operations in Iraq, will open an authorised service centre for Lenovo in Baghdad’s busy IT trading district Al Sena’a Street.

Alan Pourmirza, Infrastructure Manager at FDC, says the service centre is operated by experienced technical engineers and is stocked with spare parts to reduce the turn-around time for repairs.

“The RMA department in FDC is a big entity so it makes sense to expand it to Iraq where we have a big market share and sell a lot of Lenovo products,” he says. “Service is very important. You see a lot of products from places like China, Taiwan and the US, but [the brands] can’t service the customers. But if you purchase from a distributor you will get support.”

The opening of the service centre reinforces FDC’s plans to establish a greater in-country presence throughout the Middle East and North Africa. The company, which also stocks components from the likes of Intel, Seagate and Western Digital, insists robust RMA policies and after-sales support are what sets distributors apart these days. “A distributor without support is missing something from their business,” says Pourmirza.
