Cisco today signed a memorandum of understanding with the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), at Gitex, to explore the various collaborative opportunities in e-services.

"This new accomplishment is an inherent part of our strategic plan to increase the competency, productivity and professional development of DEWA staff and foster the technological development of telecommunications networks as well as providing technological support in the design networks of DEWA," says Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA.

Cisco will be focusing on three main areas of partnership, human capacity building, enabling best practices at DEWA and making sure all e-services offered at DEWA are reliable and secure. Their initial focus will be on the exchange of information and services across multiple channels.

"Cisco is proud to work closely with DEWA to ensure that it remains at the forefront of the technology developments in order to deliver customer satisfaction and promote Dubai's vision for the delivery of electricity and water sales at a world-class level," says Wayne Hull, Director and General Manager of Cisco UAE.

DEWA and Cisco are also planning to collaborate on the development of new services in line with DEWA's information and communication technologies. The services supply company plans to use Cisco's advanced technologies to add more value to DEWA services.
