Al Tayer group has become only the sixth company to sign a deal with Dubai Customs to allow bulk processing of imports into the emirate.

The memorandum of understanding, which was signed at GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK, is the culmination of an agreement between the two organisations in March to allow Al Tayer direct access to submit shipping declarations to the government body’s customs system Mirsal 2.

“Launching the B2G initiative comes as part of the department’s continuous development of eServices provided to clients and in line with the corporate directives towards completing customs declarations electronically,” says Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Executive Director of Client Management Division at Dubai Customs.

According to Dubai Customs, the main benefits of the agreement are the time saved by being able to submit custom declarations in batches – allowing Al Tayer to avoid frequent trips to the customs department – as well as the removal of inefficiencies, such as human error and large paper trails.

“Al Tayer Group is pleased to join [Dubai Custom’s] B2G initative,” says Khalid Ahmed Al Tayer, who was representing the group at the signing. “We believe that this service will enhance efficiency in our logistics supply chain. B2G helps simplify procedures significantly and enables us to track and trace submitted declarations. We have successfully completed structuring and linking our IT systems to B2G and Mirsal 2 with the help of Dubai Customs.”
