Hitachi Global Storage Technologies is drawing focus on its newly released additions to its existing LifeStudio external hard disk drives.

"This year our highlight at the show is the LifeStudio family of hard drives," says Nicolas Frapard, Channel Manager, EMEA at HGST. "The Lifestudio line takes external storage ‘beyond a hard drive in a box.' The LifeStudio family, offered in both portable and desktop models, creates an unprecedented solution that seamlessly pulls in, organises and protects consumers' priceless stored digital content - photos, videos, music and documents - and unifies them with online digital content from social networks such as Facebook and photo sites such as Flickr and Picasa Web Albums."

Its appearance at GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK this year marks Hitachi GST's second showing at the Middle East technology exhibition. Frapard explains, "At GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK this year we are presenting how our solutions will enhance a consumer's digital lifestyle. We're also looking to engage them with our latest products and look forward to meeting potential partners to build our footprint in the Middle East."

The biggest markets in the region for Hitachi GST are the U.A.E, Egypt and Saudi Arabia and the company is keen on growing its business in three market segments, as part of its strategic objectives for the year.

By year end Hitachi GST is aiming to improve and optimise its core hard disk drive business and further extend it business by pushing for leadership in the solid state drive (SSD) market. The company is also aiming to rapidly grow its external storage business, which is a key area of expansion.

"The Middle East is a key focus area for Hitachi GST and represents the 3rd largest total market opportunity for Hitachi in the EMEA territory," concludes Frapard.
