It might be best known for designing computer processors, but AMD will spend a good part of GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK outlining the role it has to play in the cloud computing ecosystem.

"The way we see it, as software continues to get smarter and smarter, and the hardware evolves to be more and more efficient, cloud computing becomes much more accessible to customers," says Bernard Biolchini, General Manager for MEA and Turkey at AMD. "This is a huge step for the entire IT ecosystem. Our goal is to provide the compute power and scalability needed on the server side to cope with the peak demand periods."

AMD is one of the Gold sponsors of the inaugural GITEX Cloud Confex taking place this year and Biolchini says the company is looking forward to sharing its thoughts and expertise in both cloud computing and virtualisation.

"This conference will give us the chance to clear some of that uncertainty and explain how the cloud can be advantageous to companies, IT managers and individuals," says Biolchini. "With AMD technology on both the server and client sides, we will provide a snapshot of what the future looks like in a truly connected planet."

John Fruehe, AMD's Worldwide Director of Product Marketing, will be taking part in a panel discussion on virtualisation during the first day of the Cloud Confex.
