Qatar-based telco operator, Vodafone Qatar, said that it had touched 600,000 subscribers by the end of September, which is equivalent to a 38% market share of Qatar's mobile sector. The telco's subscriber base grew 12% over the three months to September, the company said.

Grahame Maher, CEO of Vodafone Qatar, which competes with incumbent operator, Qtel, said that the company reached 600,000 customers in just over a year of commercial operations.

Vodafone Qatar's network now supports customers making a combined average of about three million local call minutes every day, and more than two million international call minutes a day.

Vodafone Qatar launched its mobile broadband services in the country with a range of flexible tariffs designed to lure price conscious customers, and in August, introduced three new ranges of mobile numbers in line with its increasing subscriber base.

Vodafone Qatar has plans for several product and service launches including Vodafone Money Transfer (VMT), an international mobile money transfer.
