HP has announced the appointment of Eyad Shihabi, to the position of managing director and Enterprise Business lead for the Middle East.

Shihabi will take up the role from 5th October, with responsibility for HP's operations in Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, and the UAE. He joins the company from ICT services provider Smartworld, where he held the post of CEO for the past two years.

HP has been without a local MD after John Hoonhout left the company in May this year. Hoonhout left the company after two and a half years at the helm, to pursue a new venture.

Santiago Cortes, managing director, HP Middle East and Africa (MEMA) and Vice President, Enterprise Business, HP MEMA commented: "We are pleased to have Eyad joining HP and taking on the responsibility of leading HP in Middle East, which is such an important and fast growing market. We look forward to continued growth across our Enterprise Business in the Middle East. Eyad's leadership experience as a CEO, his international experience, his strong sales and operations background, and his understanding of the importance of attracting and developing top talent will be invaluable in his new role."
