Jumbo ready to ramp up its revenues Nambiar: Shopper is the ideal retail venue for a fourth quarter sales boost.

Jumbo Electronics will appear at this year’s GITEX Shopper with one objective on its mind: to boost its sales of PC and electronics equipment.

“We’re going to GITEX Shopper this year because it is a great retail venue targeting gadget enthusiasts and those that are predominantly IT focused,” says JP Nambiar, Head of Retail at Jumbo Electronics. “While we stock a wide range of products at our retail stores, we will be focusing specifically on IT and consumer electronics at the exhibition. We’re looking to boost our sales with this appearance,” he adds.

Jumbo Electronics has a network of 29 retail stores and nine service centres across the UAE. The company has been operating in the country for over 30 years.

GITEX Shopper remains an important event in the company’s calendar and Nambiar is adamant it remains the best venue for his company, as well as for customers. “GITEX Shopper is a great platform for customers who are after exclusive deals and bundled offers. There are almost always instant rewards and, of course, healthy competition,” explains Nambiar.

Dubai is Jumbo’s biggest market in the UAE and the company claims it is one of the largest distributors of Sony’s products in the world, having enjoyed a long and successful association with the vendor in the Middle East. While the company boasts a solid footing in the market, changes to the channel landscape means it currently views mass merchandisers and small dealers as its main competition.

“Hypermarkets and small shops are our competitors,” he says. “Higher visibility for ‘brand Jumbo’, as well as higher sales, and therefore a better bottom-line, will help us maintain our market position.”
