Data management software specialist Commvault has been expanding its footprint in the Middle East this year and hopes its appearance at GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK will help it take a further step towards cementing its brand in the minds of regional customers.

Commvault will be highlighting the benefits of its flagship Simpana software during GITEX. The product is a unified software platform, which manages critical functions such as back-up, de-duplication, disaster recovery, archiving and management information.

Colin Summers, who recently came on board as Commvault’s Regional Director, and has extensive experience of the Middle East market, is confident that enterprises will be impressed with the effectiveness of its technology when they get to see it in operation.

“Commvault is undergoing a massive investment within the Middle East region, hence we expect to increase the awareness and profile of Commvault and Simpana within the enterprise end-user IT community,” he comments. “In parallel we are also looking to develop new relationships within the IT channel and vendor communities.”

As well as its product offering, Commvault provides professional services such as project management, training, support and on-site installation and implementation services to augment the Simpana software.

Summers is keen for Commvault to use GITEX as a way to reach out to customers that haven’t yet had a chance to experience its products. “GITEX is the premier IT event in the calendar for the Middle East region, hence it enables Commvault to showcase its products and to gain access to new customers and new channel partners,” he says.

Commvault claims that its plans for the region aren’t just limited to the UAE. It also intends to capitalise on demand for back-up and DR solutions elsewhere in the Middle East by building its customer base in the wider Gulf, Levant and Saudi Arabia. “The Middle East is one of the fastest growth markets for Commvault worldwide,” ends Summers.
