A leading pioneer behind the cloud computing revolution is looking forward to plying its trade at GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK as it continues to blaze a trail in the market for web-based delivery.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides companies with an infrastructure web services platform in the cloud and Matt Wood, Technology Evangelist for Europe at AWS, will give a keynote address on the first day of the GITEX Cloud Confex.

He will discuss issues such as creating and maintaining business agility with the cloud, and leveraging economies of scale.

Wood says AWS’ services allow businesses to requisition compute power, storage and other services, handing them a suite of elastic IT infrastructure services as and when they are needed.

“With AWS you have the flexibility to choose whichever development platform or programming model makes the most sense for the problems you’re trying to solve. You pay only for what you use, with no up-front expenses or long-term commitments, making AWS the most cost-effective way to deliver your application to your customers and clients,” comments Wood.

AWS insists customers can take advantage of Amazon.com’s global computing infrastructure, which is the backbone of its multi-billion retail business.

Using AWS, an e-commerce website can weather unforeseen demand with ease, according to Wood. He says that a pharmaceutical company, for instance, could “rent” computing power to execute large-scale simulations or an enterprise could deploy bandwidth-consuming services and training to its mobile workforce.
