The advantages of cloud computing will be hotly debated at this year’s GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK through the newly-created GITEX Cloud Confex platform.

This new addition to the show comes in response to market demand and will give businesses the chance to discuss the opportunities and benefits of cloud computing, while reviewing and comparing the technologies available today.

IDC estimates that the size of the global cloud computing market will increase to US$44 billion by 2013, as organisations increasingly look to invest in the cloud and unleash their potential for innovation through greater intelligence, creativity, flexibility and efficiency, all at a reduced cost.

Driven by innovations in software, hardware and network capacity, the emergence of cloud computing has led to an industry shift, as more applications are being delivered over the web and through the browser. As cloud computing continues to gain momentum in the Middle East, experts predict that organisations are set to embrace the full potential of all types of new cloud applications.

“Today, cloud computing gives businesses more control and flexibility over the technology they deploy and the way they deploy it,” says Fawwaz Qadan, Director of Enterprise Storage, Servers and Networking (ESSN) at HP Middle East - Platinum Sponsors of GITEX Cloud Confex. “It helps companies reduce costs and focus strategic resources on gaining advantage.”
