HTC today launched it’s latest smartphones, the HTC Desire HD and HTC Desire Z in the Middle East.

The two Android-based handsets include a number of new enhancements under the HTC Sense brand, including HD video camera and video editing, HTC Location mapping, and an online e-reading and e-book store powered by Kobo.

The phones can also connect to HTCSense.com, an online service that gives users a range of tools to manage their phones on the handset or via a PC browser. HTCSense.com includes the ability to located a missing phone either on a map, or through having the handset sound a tone; the ability to remotely lock and wipe a lost or stolen handset and forward calls to another phone and a service to easily transfer phone data such as contacts and call history from one phone to another or to archive on a PC. The site also includes downloadable HTC content like wallpapers, HTC scenes, sounds or plug-ins.

The HTC Desire HD, which is powered by the new 1GHz Qualcomm 8255 Snapdragon processor, has been designed around multimedia content, with a 4.3 inch LCD display, Dolby/SRS sound, 8 megapixel camera with dual flash and 720p HD video recording. The phone also includes HTC’s new Fast Boot functionality, which speeds up the power up sequence.

The HTC Desire Z has been designed for mobile access to content and sites such as Facebook, running on the new 800MHz Qualcomm 7230 processor for enhanced battery life, with a pop-hinge that opens to reveal a QWERTY keyboard. The handset also includes a variety of shortcut keys for easy access to common functions, along with 5 megapixel camera and 720p HD video recording.

Mohamed Kais Zribi, regional manager of HTC Middle East and North Africa, said: "Customers have been eagerly awaiting the launch of these new models following the huge success of HTC Desire. I am sure that they will be fully satisfied with the new features and applications that we have introduced in the HTC Desire HD and HTC Desire Z, especially in view of the new models' more engaging, intuitive, user-friendly design. We have likewise retained the attention-grabbing features of the phones taking advantage of the powerful Android platform and the latest version of HTC Sense, which has become a major hit among smartphone users.

"We hope that the HTC Desire HD and HTC Desire Z will grab an even greater number of loyal customers on account of the growing popularity and importance of smartphones in the region," Kais added.
