Kuwait’s Khiran Resort is rolling out IP solutions from Occam Networks, to provide telephony and TV services to its guests.

The resort, situated 120km from Kuwait City, is deploying Occam’s GPON solution as part of a renovation program, to offer guests IP telephony, IPTV and RFTV (Radio Frequency TV) services.

The deployment is being carried out by Occam partner Gulf Systems, which is replacing legacy systems with Occam’s BLC 6000 MSAP blades which have been specially designed to deliver a wide array of services from copper, Gigabit Ethernet FTTP and GPON Triple Play residential services to MEF-certified carrier E-Line and E-LAN business services.

The solution was chosen for its low cost of entry, and its ability to scale to a large number of users.

Mohammed Azeeem, from Gulf Systems, commented: “Al-Khiran Resort is one of the most popular tourist resorts in southern Kuwait and the renovation will provide guests with the ultimate leisure and business travel experience.

“As part of this ethos of providing the best hotel experience, guests will have access to IP telephony and IPTV services. Occam’s BLC 6000 demonstrated a flexibility and ease of use that simplified our communications renovation and therefore made it the technology of choice,” he added.

Juan Vela, director of solutions marketing and strategy at Occam Networks, said: “This is a great example of a hotel refurbishment that is aimed at meeting the requirements of leisure and business travellers while satisfying operational and capital considerations.”
