Enterprises expect system integrators to have a solid understanding of the vertical they are selling business intelligence into, a study by Arabian Computer News has found.

The survey, which was sponsored by iCreate, found that just over 60% of CIOs believe it is important for system integrators to be able to make up for any shortfall in internal understanding of business intelligence systems, and therefore, they need to understand their own verticals to facilitate this.

"Domain knowledge of the solution provider is emerging as a critical must-have to ensure that high-quality working solutions are deployed," said iCreate chief executive Vivek Subramanyam.

The survey also found that the majority of CIOs now feel it is important to be able to leverage data to gain a competitive advantage. "There is a clear realisation that the ability to leverage organisational data for competitive advantage with more than 70% of executives responding agreeing," added Subramanyam.

More information on survey results can be found within Arabian Computer News' business intelligence feature in this month's magazine.
