Changes in the delivery and licensing of security software will have positive impact on the enterprise market, both for enterprises themselves, as well as vendors, according to Gartner.

According to the research house, the increase in adoption of SaaS and appliances will continue to overtake traditional software licensing as the preferred purchase method for enterprise security packages.

“Delivery as a suite in sub-segments such as enterprise end-point security, identity and access management, and web security will be the most prevalent product delivery types,” said senior research analyst at Gartner, Matthew Chung.

The change to SaaS is having major benefits for smaller, niche players, especially those in markets such as the Middle East. Chung said that while the larger vendors are seeking to consolidate the market, numerous opportunities remained for smaller niche players who had local expertise.
