APC has released a new range of rack power distribution units (PDU), to improve management and monitoring of power capacity and functionality in IT infrastructures.

The company has released 19 new models in its Next Generation Metered AP8800 series and Switched AP8900 series, which include new features including advanced load balancing, remote monitoring and management

The new rack PDUs include network management abilities to access and configure the Rack PDU settings via web, SNMP and telnet; user defined monitoring and alarms; integrated LCD displays, better security through remote individual outlet control and locking IEC receptacles for use with new locking IEC jumper cords for better cable management.

"More data centre managers are starting to look at energy as a productive asset, and they need the tools to be able to help maximize the resources at hand. APC's Next Generation Rack PDUs are one of the tools that can help with energy management across the data centre through real-time monitoring, while saving space," said Christian Bertrand, vice president, APC by Schneider Electric - ME, Africa & Turkey.

APC Next Generation Metered Rack PDUs are currently available worldwide and new Switched series Rack PDUs will be available in Q3 2010.
