Genius Computer Technology (GCT) is planning to sell networking products from Edimax into the Egyptian market via a sub-distribution agreement with local outfit Partner Electronics.

GCT, which is best known for carrying the Genius range of IT peripherals, has been working with Edimax in the Gulf for the last two years. It intends to hold a launch event in Egypt later this week to officially kick-start the partnership in the local market.

Jihad Youssef, general manager of GCT, said: "We have been focusing on this market for a long time and with Partner Electronics we will be able to penetrate the market and establish Edimax as one of the leading brands in networking products.GCT will be increasing the pace of the activities and enlarge the market share with the support of Partner Electronics."

Taiwan-based Edimax, which generates sales of more than US$100m a year, manufactures a wide range of networking products, including wireless solutions, print servers, Ethernet switches and network access controllers.

Youssef says the appointment of Partner Electronics will allow the Edimax products to reach a broad network of resellers and retailers.

He adds that the company's management will also be on hand this week to foster ties with Egyptian resellers.

"We will be meeting our channel partners during the launch event and displays and demos are organised for them. We are more than happy to assist our channel partners, in order to understand our products and technologies more," said Youssef.
