A series of scheduled workshops to help Dubai resellers take advantage of industry best practices has been cancelled following a lack of interest from the channel.

Channel Buzz, organisers of the fortnightly workshop series, said it was "extremely disappointed" by the level of commitment from the reseller community, particularly as it was an initiative that had been requested by the channel.

It confirmed that all future workshops had been axed, including the forthcoming session on inventory management planned for 8th June.

In an e-mail to resellers, Channel Buzz said: "The workshop topics were determined in response to a poll of resellers on the Channel Buzz group on LinkedIn. Venue and timings was selected based on preferences and to suit the channel's convenience. It is, however, now clear that the Dubai reseller community does not need this sort of skills training after all."

The Channel Buzz workshops were launched back in March by Mita Srinivasan, owner of technology-focused PR agency Market Buzz, and independent channel consultant Guy Whitcroft, with the idea of helping channel companies tackle the issues that matter most to their business. It was hoped the vendor-neutral sessions would allow resellers to build their skill sets and improve internal practices.

The workshops were due to run every two weeks, with a list of industry experts penciled in to share their knowledge on everything from managing credit to uncovering hidden margin potential.

The Channel Buzz team said in its e-mail that if its expertise is required on any of the subjects that had been scheduled, or other topics related to channel operations, it is prepared to run further events, but on strictly commercial terms.
