LG's Cookie POP GD510BK targets budget buyers looking for a touchscreen smartphone.
The GD510BK sports a minimalistic design that sees only one button sitting on its frontend and while this might appeal to some users, we found the phone a little too inconspicuous. Dimension-wise the phone is quite small measuring just 97 x 50 x 11mm and, with a weight of just 87g, the POP is ideal for users after a slim phone.
The LG's 3-inch LCD screen produces decent looking graphics and text though interacting with the LG can be troublesome at times. While the touchscreen works brilliantly when you're creating SMS messages, it struggles when it comes to reading finger gestures; unlocking the phone took several tries on a couple of occasions. Users with large hands may also find the phone difficult to hold - and use - because it's so small.
Being a budget device the GD510BK lacks 3G support, so you'll have to rely on GPRS or EDGE for data needs. The smartphone packs a 3-megapixel camera and while this returned acceptable photos when they subjects were lit, it struggled with low-light shots. Unfortunately there's no flash to help out with this.
One area where the LG impresses is with battery life, we only needed a full charge after nearly three full days of mixed use.
Verdict: The Cookie POP is a balanced product that offers decent performance and features for its retail price.
