Grand Cinemas has released a new app that lets users in the United Arab Emirates book and pay for movie tickets using their smartphone.

The M-Application can be downloaded for free from www.grandcinemas.com/mobile and allows registered customers to check available movies screenings at all Grand Cinemas locations, book their seats and pay for the tickets using a valid credit card.

Users then can print out their own tickets using the self-service kiosks available at Grand Cinema locations which recognise registered users' credit card details.

Grand Cinemas claims to only store relevant information related to the booking including session time, movie and cinema selection, while customers' credit card details are stored in encrypted form once entered through the system that is supported by SSL 128 bit encryption.

According to Jean Ramia, group operations director for Grand Cinemas, the app was developed in-house through a joint partnership between Grand Cinemas and LG Mobile, in collaboration with an unnamed international partner.

"In the short period since its launch, the M-Application has been downloaded more than 3000 times by avid movie lovers are now enjoying the facilities brought by this innovative service. And we are confident thousands more will join soon," commented Ramia.

The launch of M-Application in the UAE will now be followed by app releases in Grand Cinemas in the Levant region.
