Etisalat customers in the United Arab Emirates might soon be able to make cheaper calls with the news that the operator plans to introduce 'significant' changes to their calling charges.

Etisalat has submitted their cost evaluation review for the year 2009 to the TRA as per the guidelines of the current Price Change Request policy, which demands that the operator share its product and service cost details to the regulator before implementing any new price changes or special promotions.

The TRA will now approve price changes on the basis of UAE-specific costs of Etisalat's national network or international benchmarks.

"Now that Etisalat has submitted its cost evaluation model, as per the TRA's requirements, Etisalat expects to be able to implement significant and wide-spread changes in its calling tariffs and bring greater choice to customers in the UAE," a statement from the telco reads. "This is an important day for the country, and Etisalat looks forward to providing even greater value to its customers and higher levels of quality.

Etisalats calling rates too much higher than other operators in the world. As a exparatidate we are are paying more to etisalat to talk with our families. Now it is necessary to reduce the rates.
