It's designed purely for those who are on the go and who want to take a projector with them whilst attending a business trip or meeting. In terms of its features, Merlin's multimedia pocket projector weighs 117g, has 2GB of onboard memory and
is equipped with a useful SD Card memory slot.
On the content compatibility front, it can play DivX, AVI and MP4 movie formats. The projector features a LCoS engine with a brightness rating of 10-12 ANSI Lumens. The engine runs at a native resolution of 640 x 480 pixels and uses a 4:3 Native Aspect ratio. The LED backlight offers a lamp life of 12,000 hours.
In testing the projector this reviewer found it adept at showing off PowerPoint slides and other presentation like documents; text wassharp and easily legible at the projector's native 640 x 480 pixel resolution. However, despite the projector shipping with video-playback software, this reviewer found that it battled somewhat to show video; quality is basic at best so it's best to stick to presentations with this handheld projector. Considering the Merlinis geared towards those wanting to show-off their presentations this isn't too big a niggle.
Verdict: The Merlin works well as a projector for presentations but not for those interested in full motion video.
