Senior members of the regional IT market came together at the third Channel Middle East Awards last night to recognise outstanding examples of excellence in the channel during the past year.

More than 350 channel executives attended the event, which took place inside the plush confines of the Constellation Ballroom at The Address, Dubai Marina.

Despite the challenges that the market has faced during the past 12 months, competition for this year's awards was as fierce as ever across the 16 categories on offer.

A full list of the winners can be found below, but in the vendor categories the victors included AMD, Cisco, HP, Kaspersky, Promate and Toshiba.

Redington Gulf, FVC and Trigon claimed the distribution prizes, while Al Moayyed Computers, Emitac Enterprise Solutions and Jacky's Electronics collected the honours in the reseller and retailer categories.

In the much-anticipated reader-voted segment of the awards the security sector struck gold as Computerlinks and Symantec saw off strong competition to earn victories in their respective categories.

The ceremony closed with the presentation of awards to individuals who have made their mark in the regional channel.

Avaya's Roger El-Tawil was named the Channel Executive of the Year for the work he has done in driving the communications vendor's partner network, while Genius Computer Technology's CEO and president, Milad Jabbour, picked up the Outstanding Contribution to Channel award for the role he has played in developing the market since starting his business in the region more than two decades ago.

Full coverage and pictures from the awards ceremony will be published in the April issue of Channel Middle East and Channel Arabic.
