This phone has been a nightmare for me! I currently cannot send emails or upload a 3-minute video to YouTube, but I can't bear to spend any more time on the phone to customer support--I've already given up endless hours trying to resolve other issues, not to mention the four visits to retail outlets. (The last two visits, the guy had me call customer support anyway--could have done that from home.) I've been a long-time T-Mobile customer, but this phone did me in. Fortunately, I was able to get out of my contract with no additional charge--that's what a lot of (legitimate) complaining will do--and I ordered an I-phone 4. I can't wait for it to arrive and have this T-Mobile nightmare behind me. I have to say, however, the customer service folks have been great. It's the product that's not quite ready for prime time.

I have issues with the mobile. !- as stated in your manual " you can recieve calls and see who is calling even when the phone is locked. My mobile remains locked and can not answer without hitting the start button and loosing the call. 2- To unlock the mobile I have to press the start button three times before the unlock is visible. How can I clear the problem

The fact that this phone traps SMS text messages in the outbox is hopeless, I am a busy businessman and this is getting me into trouble. I like the phone a lot but the SMS dis-function is an outrage. I know 4 friends with the phone and all of us have the same problem. HTC must fix this because the phone has no future like this.

I'm sorry, I sympathized with you up to the point when you said it was too complicated to navigate through. Like every other smartphone (including the iphone, my apologies iphone zombies :-) ), this phone does have it's hiccups, but to say its complicated to navigate around makes me wonder. Do you think that maybe you may be somewhat technically challenged?

I agree with your post. You are right in cue. I have had nothing but problems with HTC since I got it. I had more problems with the HTC touch pro. My problems are apps that I pay for wont work, phone freezes up constantly and you are right, it is in NO WAY user friendly. I cant get the phone to disconnect a lot of the time, Not to mention the support at HTC is a lot to be desired. To all you who have a love affair with your HTC good for you, you probablly wouldnt reveal any problems you had anyway. The general public is ignorant when it comes to technology and they want a product that works when you want it to. This phone does not. You should NEVER have to use a quick fix or call tech support for any product that costs what this costs.

This review has generated a lot of comments. Without responding to each one, I'd like to remind all of you that my blog deals with first impressions of a gadget, which the phone failed in. I stand by my words. I'm not the only person that has faced the SMS issue and yes, you can update or change the software and fiddle around to make it better, but that's not the point. HTC should have got it right from the start. It's not that I dislike the brand either - I really believe the firm has done a good job with its more recent models. It's been nice reading your experiences with the HD2, reflecting the truth that no phone is ever going to be liked equally by everyone.

So you really think you are qualified to make this review-hard to say so? Not attacking your sex, but when I look at how you reviewed a PDA, this is like a cave-man reviewing hair painters, deos, perfumes, body oils etc.. Pls.. Don't do that.. A quality review is like Solid Gold.. Please don't try to do, what you can't do.

I LOVE MY HD2! don't have any problems with SMS at all! Seems to me you're trying to convince yourself that this isn't the iPhone killer but everyone knows it is, I have both and I also love my iPhone, buy honestly the hd2 is the better phone, although the iPhone is very simple to use and has the way better apps!

Okay, listen! I am a Microsoft Software Consultant. I own a small Consulting Firm and bought all HD2's for my developers and consultants. The Phone is garbage; plain and simple. They freeze up continuously, drop calls randomly, and unless you have a hell of a set of finger nails, you can't take the battery out to reboot the damn thing. PURE GARBAGE! I'm taking them all back tomorrow AM!

Miss Vineetha, I must say you are a greater writer but you lack the skills. First of all this is a Window phone, and it's the most easy to use phone ever. You can kick in any software you like to use, such as Iphone, Anroid, etc. You can also update a different RoM on this phone. And you can have access to all of your apps at your finger tips. I think you should use your brain a bit!

Just got the phone and hate it. I have spent more time with tech support. Will not connect email all the time. I get one emsil mail and then won't get the next 5. Tech support has no clue. They think I got a dude and told me to return the phone. But the stores have waiting lists.

I believe HD2 is an amazing device, but it does have its problems. The main issue being dependent on Win Mo, which will hopefully be 'fixed' with V7. But HTC has done a great job with the Sense software, you hardly see the Windows interface. The 2nd issue it seem to have is with network settings. If you leave it on Auto, there seem to be a problem with loosing the connection, but the network shows full bar. If you change it from Auto, things work again. I believe there is an issue with the Radio protocol. But then tell me which phone doesnt have a problem?

Best device I have ever phoned (including my iPod Touch 32gb!. You do need to put time and effort into this beast, the more you put in the more you appreciate the 'brilliance' The sms stuck in outbox is a concern and has been slow to rectify. I only suffered from this the first time I installed the original fix! Apps cannot compare to Apple offering, but screen and everything else AWESOME. Every day you learn more through your experience with the HD2. I look forward to the HD3.

Vineetha's review is very accurate. Unlike many other reviews, where the reviewer uses the phone for one evening, thinks it looks pretty because of the eye-candy, but doesn't keep it long enough to see the problems. I'm glad Vineetha pointed out these important issues. The HTC HD2 has a lot of bugs. If you want details, it's easy to find on the internet. However, one of the known bugs is an SMS send bug, where SMSes are not delivered. HTC has issued patches to fix it, but the problem is still there. The HTC HD2 is not very suitable for anyone. The average person will find Android phones or the iPhone more fun, with lots of applications. Microsoft's Windows Mobile phone platform is not very popular these days, so there are not many new applications. Most of the Windows mobile apps are old business apps. But these don't work very well on the capacitive touch screen of the HD2, as those apps were designed to be used with a stylus pen. In the end, I think it would be better to buy one of the new Android phones, or an iPhone.

Still you have a chance to do as you did it before. I swear you will love HD2 again. There are more than 4 generic rom upgrades available for the HD2. If you want to make your hd2 more stylish and userfriendly, go to xdadevelopers.net, join the community and enjoy the tweaks, ideas, custom cooked roms, themes etc etc etc

Guys, I have been having such a horrible time since I got this phone. Loved its look, the brilliant display, amazing HD video and camera. But that was all. It just took me less than few days to find out the mistake I made. It keeps loosing network connectivity every now and then. Called up T-mobile few times, they had me change some settings on the phone only to see it reoccur again soon. They also had me hard reset the phone quite a few times which cost me extra time to get all the data back. Then finally they agreed and sent me a new one.. Same problem. Updated the ROM to 3.14.. worked good for two days.. but just two days.. again the sam problem surfaced. battery life is horrible even though I dont use it much. Not to mention the freezing issue. I am so pissed off now. This is my first ever smart phone and not really appreciating what I am going through.. I would rather suggest people to stay away from this showy pretentious beast.. I would appreciate if any one could come out with any suggestions that might fix the problem... Thanks a ton.
