Cisco enlists UAE channel for SMB crusade
Vendor holds first small business summit; names top-performing reseller partners
Cisco has pledged to strengthen relations with partners targeting the small business market after holding its first ever SMB-focused channel conference in the UAE.
The networking powerhouse, which claims it is putting a "heightened focus" on the SMB sector during 2010, used the summit to lay out its strategies for helping partners capture new market opportunities.
There are more than 500 SMB-focused Cisco resellers in the UAE, including 120 that hold its ‘Select Certified' accreditation, which gives them access to exclusive sales and productivity programmes.
Cisco provided updates on its latest networking offerings and gave authorised distributors Comstor, Logicom and Track Distribution the opportunity to demonstrate its products to the resellers in attendance.
Claire Jones, Cisco's SMB regional sales manager for the UAE, said Cisco was working to help partners build "profitable and sustainable" small business practices.
The networking vendor finished off by dishing out awards to seven of its top-performing channel partners. Seven Seas walked away with the ‘best customer coverage' and ‘highest revenue' accolades, and Cell IT collected the 'best services' gong. Spantec, Datasat, Fujisoft and e-nnovations also picked up awards for their achievements.
Wayne Hull, director and general manager for the UAE at Cisco, said: "Cisco is playing a role in enabling productivity gains through communication technology to these small and medium businesses with solutions that are targeted for SMB through our SMB channel partners."
